"Berkeley Solar Electric Systems completed our 40 panel system in October 2007. The process couldn't have gone more smoothly. From the delivery of the quote to the completion of the project, everything was done in the most timely manner and we were kept fully informed along the way. The system works perfectly. Our first PG&E electric bill was less than $5.00, which was outstanding considering the time of year. We chose a solar electric system because we wanted to do something proactive to protect the planet for our children. Aside from the fact that we will save tens of thousands of dollars in electric costs over the coming years, we feel that Mark helped us achieve energy independence from foreign sources, do our part to clean up the air, and take advantage of a technology that uses the sun. I would be happy to share more about working with this great contractor and about the solar experience with anyone who would like to contact me."

"Mark Frye and his crew did an outstanding job on our PV project. Mark's thoroughness, steady work ethic and craftsmanlike attention to detail harken back to former times when all contractors took great pride in their work. He also provided us with a comprehensive presentation on the economic and ecological ramifications of the proposed project before we went into contract, and tailored the scope of the system to our particular needs. I would recommend Mark Frye and Berkeley Solar Electric Systems to anyone considering a PV project for their home."

"In 2005 we got serious about putting a solar electric system on our home. We did some basic research, and solicited bids from two companies. The bid from Berkeley Solar Electric Systems was professional - very detailed and left no hidden costs or expenses, and made very realistic assumptions about our site's solar efficiency (a combination of sun exposure and shading effects). It was also very competitive. The system was installed quickly and has worked flawlessly since PG&E turned on the time-of-use meter. It has exceeded all our expectations. We're glad we chose Mark Frye for this work. He was a pleasure to work with and extremely patient in answering our endless questions... We would recommend him to any other homeowner without hesitation.

“Our work with Mark Frye of Berkeley Solar Electric Systems was a very positive and rewarding experience. He was easy to talk with, and eager to answer all of our questions. After analyzing our electricity usage patterns, he helped us to determine what kind and size of solar system made sense for us. The system he installed is not only effective (we love to see the meter run backwards!), but attractive as well. His workmanship was careful and thorough, and he also attended to the installation’s appearance. We enthusiastically recommend him.”

“Mark Frye installed a very complicated off grid system for us. The system includes a 30' x 18' solar array, 16 large 900 lb. batteries, 10 inverters, a back-up generator, and a power distribution system to all 5 buildings on our compound. It was my responsibility as the Owner's representative to make sure the entire construction project get delivered on schedule, on budget and meets all the owner's expectations. Since I was responsible for the entire construction project, from excavation to final finishes, including all the trades from start to finish, I had a lot of concerns in addition to the solar power system. Mark Frye turned out to be one of the most competent, reliable, and caring contractors on the project. When you run large projects like I do, you tend to notice those individuals who you can count on and who make things happen. I firmly believe that it was directly due to Mark Frye's abilities, that our solar power distribution system has been a complete success. Mark also consistently thought “out of the box,” brought me solutions instead of problems, and worked extremely hard, but also worked smartly. Mark consistently worked hard to deliver us one the highest quality and reliable systems I have ever seen. Mark also worked hard at delivering us value. I would be glad to refer Mark Frye to anyone who might be interested, since I believe anyone who hires Mark will end up as satisfied as I have been on our project, and I do not hand out accolades lightly.”

"On February 14, 2005, KyotoUSA held a press conference with Council Member Linda Maio and the Tuvaluan Ambassador to the UN announcing that the City of Berkeley had endorsed the Kyoto Protocol and that the City would be continuing its efforts to reduce its production of greenhouse gases. We were pleased to have BSES as a sponsor of the press conference. BSES provided the electricity generated by on-site solar panels, resulting in the zero carbon emissions for the event. Everything went smoothly, impressing everyone with BSES expertise."
